US Masters Golf Contenders 2011 - Steve Stricker
Steve Stricker is a 42 year old American, who turned professional in 1990. He has only won four tour titles but has shown tremendous consistency over the last 18 months or so that has kept him in the top 20 players in the world rankings. He is currently ranked 12th.
Form
Although Steve Stricker has not managed to complete four rounds on the Augusta National Golf Course at the US Masters since 2001, his resurgent form puts him firmly in the running this year. Steve is one of those golfing enigma's, who a few years ago had lost all semblance of form and was consigned to golfing obscurity. However a change in fortune put him back on the comeback trail and for the last three years Steve has featured prominently in the top ten of the World Rankings. He is yet to win a Major but has won eleven professional titles and has finished in the top ten of all tournaments played countless times. He is a consistent golfer who could easily win a Major if the time is right. He was 2nd in the PGA Championship in 1998. His record at Augusta is pretty dismal, but things can change:
- 1997 - Missed Cut.
- 1999 - Tied 38th.
- 2000 - Tied 19th.
- 2001 - Tied 10th.
- 2002 - Missed Cut.
- 2007 - Missed Cut.
- 2008 - Missed Cut.
Betting Assessment
He has missed the cut the last three times he has played the Augusta Course, which inspires no confidence at all. However he has been consistent for the last 18 months and has started the year off well with three top ten finishes from seven tournaments played, including an excellent second place in the Northern Trsut Open won by Phil Mickelson. His 80/1 odds in the US Masters betting probably gives the best indication as to his chances of winning this.
